In a joint statement to NBC News, the attorneys said: “We are pleased with the decision to dismiss the case against Alec Baldwin”. They added, “We encourage a proper investigation into the facts and circumstances of this tragic incident”. Meanwhile, the actor shared a photo of himself and his wife Hilaria Baldwin on social media and captioned: “I owe everything I have to this woman” before proceeding to thank his attorneys.
Two months after Alec Baldwin and Rust armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed pleaded not guilty to one count of involuntary manslaughter, the District Attorney of Santa Fe in New Mexico has dismissed the charges in connection to Hutchins’s tragic death. It is worth mentioning, Hutchins was “fatally” wounded on the set of Rust in 2021 when a prop gun held by Baldwin misfired – real bullets. During the incident, the film’s director Joel Souza was also injured however, he recovered but Hutchins succumbed to her injuries.

Although Baldwin and Gutierrez-Reed were charged in January, the actor denied pulling the trigger as his legal team accused the prosecution of committing a “basic legal error“. According to this, the court was charging the actor under a firearm enhancement statute that did not exist at the time of the incident and was only enacted seven months after the on-set shooting.
On the other hand, in an interview with ABC News in 2021, Baldwin argued: “The trigger wasn’t pulled”. Throughout the legal proceedings, the actor maintained that he was not responsible for the tragic passing of Halyana Hutchins.
