Sahiwal race milky cow tops milking competition

Lahore: A Sahiwal race milky cow breeder’s first calver breeded cow topped in Shorkot tehsel in two day milking competition among the cows of other similar breeders which held at Shorkot.
The topper cow’s first prize of Rs 30,000 was awarded to breeder Yahya Shakir for giving 15.985 litres milk by his first calver cow at a time.
Government research centre for conservation of indigenous breed Jhang stock recorder Rana Waqarul Haq told reporters that previously few first calver cows of same breeder had also won cash prizes.He added that Jhang GRCCIC director Dr Khalid Farooq,research officer Dr Rahat and Shorkot tehsel bar association former president Sheikh Attaullah supervised the competition. He added that one cow is purchased by breeders at the price from Rs250,000 each to Rs 400,000 and winner had in his farm more than 35 Sahiwal race similar cows. He further said the Jhang GRCCIC had a farm of more than 350 costly cows. Director Dr Khalid Farooq claimed that trend of breeding this milky race cow is increasing in the area and this will be greatly helpful in ending the shortage of quality milk.
