Saira Banu makes Instagram debut, shares old pictures with Dilip Kumar
Veteran Bollywood actor Saira Banu, who prefers a private life since the passing of her husband Dilip Kumar, recently made an account on the social networking website Instagram.
Sharing a picture from her youth, Saira Banu wrote: “The 22 inch waistline in days far gone… Oh! Only if Time stood Still… Alas!”

During her career as an actor in the 60s and 70s, Saira Banu appeared in super-hit films and worked with many famous heroes of the day. Making her debut at the age of 16, Saira Banu and Dilip Kumar tied the knot in 1966, when she was 22 years old. Hailed as a successful Bollywood couple, Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu leave a lasting impression on their fans and followers to this day.
In the description of her Instagram profile, the actor wrote: “Hindustan ke ‘KOHINOOR’ Dilip Sahib ke liye”.

In her first post on the social networking site, reminiscent of the legendary Dilip Kumar, Saira Banu wrote: “This is the day, “7th of July” at “7 am” when time stood still and my loved one slid into a deep slumber.”
She added that her husband was an “iconic guiding light” not only for her but for all the generations that were “exemplified by his gracious presence and personality”. Honoring his memory she said that Dilip Kumar was the greatest actor but he was also “a very great human being… a true picture of humility with dignity”.

Paying tribute to her late husband, Saira Banu said she hopes to share his thoughts, vision, and stories from the couple’s life not publicly known.
The couple appeared in five films together and remained married for nearly five decades till Dilip Kumar passed away on 7th July 2021, but had no children.
