Sajal Ali receives compliments after her groundbreaking project


Lahore, 17th January: Artists from Pakistan showbiz industry have started pouring in their messages for the renowned actress Sajal Ali after her debut in Hollywood.

Baaghi TV: Sajal Ali is all set to share screen space with top Hollywood stars in an upcoming international project.

According to reports, the ‘Mom’ actress has been selected for a role in Jemima Goldsmith’s production, for which she is currently shooting in London.

Last year it was reported that Jemima Goldsmith would be writing and producing her first romantic-comedy, under the banner of her company Instinct Production, titled ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It’.

Reports further added that she will collaborate with the Indian film-maker Shekhar Kapur, marking his first movie since the 2007 Oscar-winner ‘Elizabeth: The Golden Age’.

Two days ago, Jemima Goldsmith, former wife of Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan took to her Twitter account to confirm the news:

BBC journalist Haroon Rashid revealed that the film Titled ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It’, stars actors Emma Thompson, Lily James and Shazad Latif, besides Pakistani actor Sajal Ali.

The Indian filmmaker Shekhar Kapur will be directing the movie, which is written and produced by Jemima Goldsmith. India’s senior actress Shabana Azmi will also star in this cross-cultural movie.


As soon as this news surfaced on media, various artists including Mahira Khan and Humayun Saeed congratulated Sajal Ali.

Humayun Saeed said that this is a moment of great pride for Pakistan. Congratulations Sajal. Your hard work and dedication have brought you to this point and Insha’Allah it will take you even further. May you always shine like this.



Mahira Khan congratulated Sajal Ali and said, “It is very wonderful. I am proud of you.”

Similarly, actors Bilal Abbas Khan, Anushay Ashraf, Zara Noor Abbas, Ali Rehman Khan, Yasir Hussain, Mirza Gohar Rashid and many others congratulated her.

Nevertheless, ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It’ is a cross-cultural rom-com about love and marriage, set between London and South Asia. It is said that the story is based on an original script by Goldsmith (The Clinton Affair, The Case Against Adnan Syed, We Steal Secrets: The Story of WikiLeaks).
