Actor Salman Khan said that he believed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi carried out the firing outside his home to kill him and his family.

His statement, recorded by the anti-extortion cell of Mumbai Crime Branch last month, is part of the chargesheet that the police filed earlier this month. India Today has exclusively accessed the 1,735-page chargesheet, in which Salman Khan shared details of threats he and his family have been receiving from Lawrence Bishnoi and his gang members for years. He also said that he had asked his family members and relatives to be “alert at all times”.

In the statement, the actor said that the firing incident happened in the early hours of April 14 when he was sleeping.

“I heard a cracker-like sound. Then, at around 4.55 am, the police bodyguard said that two people on a bike had fired from a weapon at the Galaxy Apartment’s first floor balcony. There had been attempts to hurt me and my family prior to this as well. I have learnt that Lawrence Bishnoi has taken responsibility for the attack from social media. So, I believe that it is the Lawrence Bishnoi gang who have carried out the firing on my balcony,” the statement read.

The actor further stated that he learnt Lawrence Bishnoi and his brother Anmol Bishnoi had taken responsibility for the attack in a Facebook post.

“Earlier also, Lawrence Bishnoi and his gang members in an interview talked about killing me and my relatives. So, I believe that Lawrence Bishnoi, with the help of his gang members carried out the firing incident when my family members were sleeping inside and planning to kill me and my family members so they carried out the attack.

Salman Khan and his brother Arbaaz Khan’s statements were recorded by a four-member crime branch team on June 4. An official said that while the actor’s statement was recorded for nearly four hours, his brother’s was recorded for over two hours.

Salman Khan also detailed the multiple occasions when Lawrence Bishnoi and his gang members threatened him. In his statement, the actor said that in 2022, his father – Salim Khan – had found a letter issuing a threat to him and their family on a bench opposite their apartment building.

“After that, in March 2023, an email was received on my official email of an employee in my team threatening me and my family from Lawrence Bishnoi. In this regard, a case was registered by my team member at Bandra police station,” the statement signed by the actor read.

He further stated that in January this year, two people attempted to trespass using fake names and identities at his farmhouse in Panvel. A case was registered in this matter as well.

“I learnt from police that the two accused who had tried to trespass at the farmhouse were from Fazilka village in Rajasthan, which is the village of Lawrence Bishnoi,” Salman Khan said.
