Sammy bashes the Indian actress on racist comment

Former West Indies captain Darren Sammy has responded to Indian actress Swara Bhaskar for calling him a ‘black’ in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

On micro-blogging site Twitter, Indian actress Swara Bhaskar wrote in her tweet to Darren Sammy, “If anyone has used a word for blacks and says that the word was used in terms of love with them,what would you say about it”?

“As far as you’re talking about forgiveness, anyone apologizes for their mistake only when they admit it,” said Darren Sammy.

“I am a black man and I am very proud of that,” he added.

It may be recalled that Darren Sammy had revealed in his Twitter message about listening to racist remarks in the Indian Premier League (IPL) that when he was part of the Hyderabad Sunrisers in the IPL, he was called ‘Kalu’.

Darren Sammy said that along with him, Sri Lankan all-rounder Thisara Perera was also called by the same words.

He said that at first he thought that Kalu meant powerful, but later found out the real meaning of the word.
