In a shock to the joint opposition, the ruling PTI and its allies saved the no trust move against Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani on Thursday.

According to reports of Baaghitv, the joint opposition failed to get the no-trust resolution passed by the upper house on Thursday. The resolution was jointly moved by the joint opposition, to de-seat the chairman senate Sadiq Sanjrani.

The tall claims of opposition having support of 64 senators was exposed as the opposition manage to get 50 votes only in their cause, and the opposition resolution was rejected. The polling session was held today at the senate, chaired by senator Barrister Muhammad Saif.

The opposition needed 51 votes as the total number of senators present today were 100 senators, out of 104 senators. Jamat-e-Islami senators, 2 in numbers, were conspicuous by their absence and a senator Chaudhry Tanveer, of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, was also absent as he was out of country at this crucial occasion.

When the results of secret balloting was announced, opposition managed to get 50 votes only, while 5 votes were rejected on technical grounds, and 9 opposition senators voted in favor of Sadiq Sanjrani.

I am thankful for both treasury and opposition benches for voting for me,” jubilant Sadiq Sanjrani said after his victory.
