Saudi Arabia plans on turning their well-known oil enterprise into a Tourist attraction with their plan of constructing an oil themed “extreme park”.
Saudi Arabia has announced plans to convert an oil rig into a 150,000 square meter “extreme park” and resort located in the Arabian Gulf. The fund for this grand venture is to be provided by the Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF). The resort will include three hotels and 11 restaurants constructed on a number of inter-linked platforms, equipped with roller coaster rides and exciting activities like bungee jumping and skydiving.
Contributions of the upcoming tourist attraction, which aims to “provide a multitude of hospitality offerings, adventures, and aquatic sporting experiences,” along with a promo video, were released in early October.  This project is very likely to bepopular with visitors from the Arabian Gulf region.
A completion date for the venture has not yet been made public.
Dubbed as the “world’s first tourism destination to have taken inspiration by offshore oil platforms,” the upcoming attraction is being devised in line with the long-term Saudi Vision 2030’s strategy, which aims to reposition Saudi Arabia as a top international tourism destination and diversify its economy.
