Saudi Foreign Minister arrives in Islamabad on a day long visit

July 27, 2021: Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud has arrived in Islamabad on a one-day visit. He was received at Noor Khan Airbase by senior Foreign Office officials.

Prime Minister’s aide on Religious Harmony Allama Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi and Ministry for Foreign Affairs officials and Saudi ambassador in Pakistan Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki received the Prince Faisal bin Farhan at Noor Khan Airbase.

The Saudi dignitary is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Imran Khan, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, President Arif Alvi, and Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa during the brief visit, as per reports.

Saudi Foreign Minister Farhan Al Saud and Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi will discuss bilateral relations and the whole of regional and international affairs. The Saudi Foreign Minister will also meet with other dignitaries during his visit.

The visit of the Saudi Foreign Minister holds a significance in the backdrop of the recent visit of Prime Minister (Prime Minister) Imran Khan to Saudi Arabia in May earlier this year. This will provide a timely opportunity to review the progress in bilateral cooperation in line with the vision of the leadership of the two countries.

In a statement, Foreign Office spokesman Zahid Hafeez Chaudhry said that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have a long and historic fraternal relationship, rooted in common beliefs, common history and mutual support. He said that relations have been marked by close cooperation in all fields and mutual cooperation on regional and international issues.

Zahid Hafeez Chaudhry said that Saudi Arabia is a member of the OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir and has always supported the Kashmir cause. Frequent high-level visits are a key feature of this relationship that helps deepen and broaden the relationship in many ways.

The spokesman said that the visit of the Saudi Foreign Minister would strengthen the positive momentum in further deepening bilateral exchanges and bilateral cooperation in various fields.

Pakistan, meanwhile, hopes that the visit of Saudi FM will boost the positive momentum in further deepening exchanges and deepening cooperation in various fields. During the visit of the Saudi Foreign Minister, Assistant Prime Minister Tahir Ashrafi said that bilateral relations and cooperation in various fields would be reviewed.

The Saudi Crown Prince was in Islamabad on a high-level visit in February 2019, during which Saudi Arabia signed  $20 billion investment agreements with Pakistan.
