Acting Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan said that Rs21 billion has been allocated for the elections on the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
In the context of the Supreme Court’s order to release funds to the Governor State Bank, a consultative meeting was held under the chairmanship of Federal Minister of Law Nazir Tarar, in which the Minister of State for Finance, Special Assistant for Finance, officials of the Ministry of Finance participated.
Acting Governor State Bank, Special Secretary Finance, Chairman Finance Committee Qaiser Sheikh, Minister of Commerce Naveed Qamar, Minister of State for Finance Ayesha Ghos Pasha, Attorney General, Auditor General of Pakistan, Accountant General were present in the consultative meeting chaired by Federal Law Minister Nazir Tarar. Officials were involved.
In the consultation held before the special meeting of the Standing Committee on Finance of the National Assembly, the legal points regarding stopping the release of funds for the election were reviewed and a consultation was held on how the State Bank can be stopped from releasing the funds.
Prime Minister of Law Nazir Tarar said that I think this matter should be sent to the National Assembly again. The Constitution of Pakistan says that if there is a need for a supplementary grant, the federal government should take it to the Parliament. The Constitution is supreme, the Supreme Court, the Prime Minister. The cabinet and all of us have taken an oath to follow the constitution, the money for the election was not kept in the current budget.
