New Delhi: The Indian Opposition Party Congress has called the meeting, on the Kashmir issue at the UN Security Council, a diplomatic failure of the Modi government.

The United Nations Security Council held a historic meeting on the situation of occupied Kashmir after which 15 member states rejected the Indian narrative that Kashmir was an internal matter of India.

‘Security Council meeting denies that Kashmir is India’s internal matter,’ said Pakistan’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Maleeha Lodhi.

Indian Congress spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi while talking to Indian media called the Security Council meeting on Kashmir issue a diplomatic and strategic failure of the Indian government.

Regarding the statement made by Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on the use of nuclear weapons, the spokesperson said that the nuclear issue is of a very sensitive nature and cannot be talked about so the Modi government should reveal a clear policy statement in this regard.

It may be recalled that opposition leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi did not attend the main event on India’s Independence Day while it was celebrated all around the world, including Pakistan and occupied Kashmir.
