Ex-PPP senator, Sehar Kamran, who had been accused of corruption charges despite ‘zero tolerance against corruption’, has been making the rounds for what is considered a made-up account of the events and has been rebuked by Kamran on social media.

According to reports of Baaghi TV, Sehar Kamran has rejected the claims that she was involved in corruption while also denying the authenticity of what she considers inaccurate reporting pertaining to her involvement with a Pakistani school based in Saudi Arabia.

Based on earlier reports, it was stated that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had initiated an inquiry against Sehar Kamran on the 28th of October in 2014 for alleged embezzlement yet had failed to prove anything after a period of six years. Taking to social networking website, Twitter, the ex-senator posted a series of tweets to present her case.

The former member of Senate posted that people are “very interested to learn about the School I worked for. So let me tell you #TheSchoolStory”. She continued to say that the school which was based in Jeddah had been considered an illegal entity and had been and had been issued notice of closure by 1999 when she joined.

Sehar Kamran went on to say that, she got the school legalized as a Pakistani Community School by working day and night so that she could meet the requirements of the Saudi Ministry of Education. She added that she was the “1st School Staff to get the official sponsorship of the School” and continued to work as a Director after issuance of the license. In her tweet, the ex-senator added that her work received “praises and commendation by MOE, Community & Embassy”.

In another tweet, Kamran  went on to add that the school continued to excel under her leadership in all fields, from academics to extracurricular activities and aimed to provide “quality education & opportunities” that could assist the students in their future by “developing an integrated pattern of intellectual curiosity and social responsibility”. The former senator went on to add that during her tenure as the head of the institute, they managed to create the largest Pakistani flag “with more than 250K Thumb impressions”.

The thread continued to highlight that the school continued to thrive till 2013 when the Ambassador visited as the Chief Guest at their Annual Award-2013 ceremony. Sehar Kamran added that till 2013, “a primary School that was declared illegal in 1999, developed into a State of the Art institution, accredited by Council of International Schools in UK, offering Cambridge high school & Undergraduate program of the @UoLondon”.

The succeeding tweets argued that between September and December of 2013, the school “never received any external funds, not a penny from Pakistan or elsewhere. Regular audits were done, all finances were intact.” However, a “notorious campaign had been initiated against Sehar Kamran which led to her resignation in 2013.

The former senator stated that “Dirty tactics were used to defame & pressurize, compelling me & all the senior staff [to] leave”. She added that nearly 30 people resigned in a single day because of a “politically motivated campaign”.

Kamran went on to add that officials brought a mob to the school to humiliate female teachers who had been serving the institute since its inception. She further wrote that on the 19th of November, 2013 at 1:00 am, a Consulate staff was sent to the school to serve an “unauthorized termination letter”.

According to reports of Baaghi TV, Kamran went on to say that she has been forced to make the above public despite not wanting to do so. Referring to the day she resigned, Kamran stated, “It was a very stressed and unplanned day, all I said was in extreme anxiety & anger”. The former senator stated that while “Leaving was painful”, the accomplishments and pride earned during her tenure as Principal of the school have made her satisfied.
