It takes a lot of time and emotional healing for us women in this society to realize that they themselves define their self-worth. The constant comparisons, expectations, nagging and much more cause a significant drop in our self-esteem.
We resist these comments in the beginning. And why wouldn’t we? We are the same women who were treated like some VIPs by our parents when we were young. We were told we were the best at so many things. Little and insignificant actions were appreciated as if we had accomplished something big. We were told that we could conquer the world.
[bs-quote quote=”After we step into the real world and interact with people outside our family, we start getting judged immediately. The rigid yet impossible list of qualities that we are expected to have in ourselves makes us to start doubting our capabilities. This is a huge blow to our self-esteem.” style=”style-13″ align=”center” color=”#dd0000″ author_name=”Sarah Ahmad Uqaili ” author_job=”Contributor, Baaghi TV”][/bs-quote]
Then after we step into the real world and interact with people outside our family, we start getting judged immediately. The rigid yet impossible list of qualities that we are expected to have in ourselves makes us to start doubting our capabilities. This is a huge blow to our self-esteem. Then slowly we stop resisting these comments. Instead, when our individual passions and interests seem to be totally unimportant to the world, we try to change ourselves, just to feel better about ourselves again.
In this whole process of trying to please the world, the world of course keeps pointing out our shortcomings no matter how much effort we make and we lose ourselves as well. Our innate qualities, our likes and dislikes, all vanish only for our self-esteem to totally get ruined.
Since women play such an important but hidden role in the society, this issue causes a sense of demotivation and depression in the entire society.
So the next time someone comments on your life choices, the way you work and most importantly the way you think, keep in mind that these people will not even remember you in future, but if you take these comments to heart, you will definitely fall into an endless hole of self-doubt.
What is the most important attribute that we need to learn?

Perhaps, it is to ignore and filter out whatever you hear and know that you are capable and important just the way you are.
