Senate Standing Committee meeting on National Health Services Regulations and Coordination meeting held under the chair of Senator Dr. Muhammad Humayun Mohmand to review critical healthcare issues.

Firstly, concerns were raised about the malfunctioning of the AC systems at PIMS and Polyclinic Hospital, leading to patient deaths.

A project worth Rs725 Million approved in 2018 for AC system upgrades has not been completed due to various delays, and the committee directed accountability measures.

The committee also discussed the decline in dengue cases in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) in 2023, praising the collaborative efforts of the Health department and ICT administration in raising awareness and preventing dengue.

Passing percentages for the ‘National Registration Examination’ were debated, with Senator Dr. Muhammad Humayun Mohmand urging PMDC to reconsider the criteria and organize an exam calendar for the next year.

Regarding allegations of cheating in the MDCAT exam in KPK, PMDC assured fairness and referred the matter to the FIA for accountability.

The committee highlighted the issue of foreign students being charged in dollars at Dow International Medical College Karachi, calling for an inquiry.
