The Senate unanimously passed an amendment to Article 106 of the Constitution to increase the number of seats in the Balochistan Assembly.

The Constitutional Amendment Bill states that the population of Balochistan has increased by 12 million in the last 20 years but the number of seats in the Balochistan Provincial Assembly has not been increased.

Senate rejects motion to introduce constitutional amendment bill in NFC Awards.

The bill demands that the number of Balochistan Assembly seats be increased from 63 to 80.

The Senate unanimously passed the amendment to Article 106 of the Constitution, with 71 votes in favor of the Constitutional Amendment Bill.

The bill was introduced by Senators Jad Tori, Usman Khan Kakar, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, Shahzeb Durrani, Sarfraz Bugti, Shafiq Tareen, Merkbir, Yaqub Khan Nasir, Kahda Babar and other senators from Balochistan.
