Lahore, 24th February: An advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan has filed a petition against the Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court.

Baaghi TV: According to reports, Riaz H Rahi, a member Supreme Court Bar Association has filed a petition against Chief Justice Athar Minallah of IHC.

Mr Rahi has been made serious allegations against the Chief Justice saying that he had become a party to the dispute and was not been able to take a proper decision.

Petitioner Riaz Hussain Rahi said that in the incidents seen in Islamabad F-8, the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court, instead of following the law, sided with the people of his profession.

Mr Rahi has alleged that the job of the Chief Justice was not to turn left but to give orders and implement the constitution but the tone and style he has adopted clearly proves that he is a party.

Riaz Hussain said that the constitution has granted him immense powers but instead of exercising these powers, he has acted reluctantly.

He urged that the role of the Chief Justice was not appropriate even in the case of demolition of lawyers’ chamber in F-8. CJ should have fulfilled his constitutional responsibility.

Riaz Hussain Rahi says that FIRs have been registered against some lawyers in the case and they have been arrested while some have been released. He said that expediency should not have been used here.

After raising objections in his petition, he said that since the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court was unable to discharge his responsibilities properly, action should be taken against him.
