Foreign Minister, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, has expressed serious concerns over the ranking of 10 federal ministers who received awards from Prime Minsiter (PM) Imran Khan. He protested against the non-recognition of performance of the Foreign Ministry.

In a letter to Special Assistant to the PM, Arbab Shehzad, Shah Mehmood Qureshi expressed serious concerns over the distribution of certificates and awards of performances to the federal ministers.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is ranked 11th in the performance list and I have strong reservations about the Pierre Review Committee’s (PRC) ranking,” he stated. He further said that the Performance Agreement (PA) did not take into account the performance of the Foreign Ministry in achieving its objectives.

“I was told that the average performance of the ministers is 62% whereas the performance of the Foreign Ministry in the first quarter was 77%, in achieving the performance targets,” he explained.

In his letter, he said that the Foreign Ministry had ensured that no target was pending during the review.

He also pointed out that the Foreign Ministry had also carried out three effective activities during this period but it was not taken into consideration while finalizing the list.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi further wrote that at the time of final approval of the Performance Agreement by PRC, no reservations were raised on the quality of measures or targets by the Foreign Ministry.
