Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi addressed a social media training session for government officials in collaboration with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Facebook.

Officials from Pakistani embassies around the world are participating in the training session via video link.

Addressing the training session, the Foreign Minister said: “I thank DMW and Facebook for providing this wonderful opportunity to introduce Pakistani diplomats to this innovative way of communicating.”

We are all aware that diplomacy has entered a new ‘e-era’ which has brought about rapid changes in various aspects of the country’s system.

I thank all of you that all the embassies have adopted and committed to this modern visual footprint through my vision of ‘online’ presence and availability.

I am glad that all the missions are fully committed to Vision FO and follow it wholeheartedly.

As part of my ongoing “Digital Diplomacy” initiative, many of you may have seen the ‘Blue Tick’ on your account, which officially confirms on the desired social media platform.

It is gratifying that all your teams are active in the field of digital diplomacy, equipped with the latest tools.

The development and availability of your social media handles and adopting a standard in this regard and bringing them all together is in line with my vision. I encourage you all to be diligently and actively involved in your respective social media handles and to constantly ‘update’ the activities of your embassies.

The Ministry’s “Strategic Communications Division” has begun the process of developing thematically relevant and specialized content to bring Pakistan’s interests to the world in an effective and innovative way.

This content is in the form of short documentaries, informative graphics, photographs and short stories.

I am pleased to announce that the SCD has a very coordinated and proactive partnership with embassies abroad.

I see different activities that you are all doing together through the SCD collaboration process.

I want to see this collaboration thrive, thrive and become more integrated.

In particular, I would like to draw the attention of the heads of all embassies and ministry officials to the importance of expanding the “digital space” and the use of modern means for 21st century diplomats in this regard.

In this regard, I urge all of you to publish content, especially the official pages of embassies, to achieve the desired results.

These activities will be watched and tested to know the results and trends.

I am about to launch the “Digital Media Dashboard” which will enable us to monitor our social media handles through state-of-the-art artificial intelligence.

Effective communication of the future is possible through modern digital means. I am happy to see that this effort is being made to increase efficiency in this regard.

I wish you all to make the most of this training. I pray for the blessings of Ramadan for you.
