Shahbaz, Turner agree on pursuing joint mechanism for fortifying bilateral ties

LAHORE,  July 29 (online): Shahbaz Sharif, opposition leader in National Assembly  (NA) and British high commissioner in Pakistan Dr Christian Turner have agreed on pursuing joint mechanism on strengthening bilateral ties .

Over one hour video link meeting took place between Shahbaz and British high commissioner Wednesday.

British high commissioner paid rich tributes to Shahbaz Sharif for the services rendered by him as Chief Minister (CM) besides lauding his role in accomplishment of historical development projects between the two countries in transparent manner during his previous tenure as CM Punjab.

British high commissioner expressed his good wishes for recovery of Mian Shahbaz Sharif.

Shahbaz  Sharif said that the two countries are enjoying historical ties which have assumed  paramount significance at regional and global level. British department Defend and Punjab government completed uplift projects in Punjab in highly transparent manner.

He said the present opposition is the highly responsible opposition in the history of country. Opposition is plying its role in extremely constructive way. Opposition is holding government accountable on the promises made by it with the people. Prosperity and social development and betterment of people should be top priority of the government.

He underscored that economic challenges are alarming but opposition will continue to discharge its constitutional obligations.

British high commissioner said the two countries have played vital role in fortifying the ties and adopting joint strategy at international level. This needs to be strengthened further. His country is determined for diverse development programs  in Pakistan, he added.
