Shahzad Saleem re-appointed as DG NAB Lahore

Shahzad Saleem, a Grade 21 officer, has been re-appointed as Director General (DG) in the Lahore office of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

According to the details, Shahzad Saleem was transferred on December 23 last year and posted at Awareness and Prevention (A&P) Division, NAB Headquarters, Islamabad. He was replaced by Jamil Ahmed as director general of NAB Lahore, who had earlier held key positions, including the federal secretary, and joined the bureau five months ago.

However, sources said that Chairman NAB Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal was unhappy with the performance of Jamil Ahmed. Therefore, only 4 months later, Shahzad Saleem was transferred to NAB Lahore while Jamil Ahmed was transferred to NAB Headquarters Islamabad.

Shahzad Saleem has been in the headlines in recent years for pursuing the alleged corruption cases of former Prime Minister (PM) and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif, his brother and current PM Shahbaz Sharif and his family.

It may be recalled here that during the tenure of Director General NAB Shahzad Saleem, besides the Sharif family, cases were also started against former Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar.

During his tenure, inquiries were made against Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q) leaders Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and Moonis Elahi and their families for disproportionate assets and illegal appointments.
