Shashank Manohar steps down as ICC Chairman

International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman Shashank Manohar has resigned, while Deputy Chairman Imran Khawaja has agreed to take over the responsibilities of the board.

Former Indian Cricket Board president Shashank Manohar has twice been chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC) for a two-year term.

Acknowledging the services of Shashank Manohar, ICC Chief Executive Mano Swahane said that, I thank ICC Chairman Shashank Manohar for what he has done for the betterment of the game.Best wishes to Shashank Manohar.

Deputy Chairman Imran Khawaja will be in charge till the election of a new chairman.

According to ICC officials, the election procedure is likely to be approved by the board next week.

It is to be noted that in the media reports, the name of Sarvo Ganguly, the head of the Indian Cricket Board, has come up for the ICC chairmanship, while some members of the ICC board have expressed their desire to make Ehsan Mani, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, the ICC chairman. He has expressed this and he expressed this while contacting Ehsan Mani.

Ehsan Mani has expressed disinterest in Pakistan cricket at the helm of the ICC.
