Lahore, 21st September: Opposition leader Shehbaz Sharif’s bail plea was heard in the Lahore High Court.

Shehbaz Sharif’s lawyer Amjad Pervez Advocate while giving arguments in the court said that this case was made on the political basis from the first day.

Amjad Pervaiz Advocate said that on November 7, 2017, Chairman NAB had ordered against the formation of 56 companies in Punjab against Shehbaz Sharif.

Former Chief Justice of Pakistan Asif Saeed Khosa had also given remarks regarding NAB’s political engineering. 

Advocate Amjad Pervez further argued that DG NAB Punjab was given the authority to inquire into all public sector companies in Punjab, to which Justice Sardar Ahmed Naeem asked the lawyer to come to the facts.

Amjad Pervez Advocate said that a patriotic Pakistani petition was filed against Shehbaz Sharif in NAB. 

Giving further arguments, Amjad Pervez Advocate said that NAB summoned him as the Chief Minister of Punjab to which the accused responded.

NAB requests to reject Shahbaz Sharif’s bail application

On July 4, 2018, an inquiry was started against Hamza Shehbaz and Shehbaz Sharif. Justice Sardar Ahmed Naeem inquired that who filed the petition against the construction of Ramzan Sugar Mills sewer, to which the NAB prosecutor said that a reference was filed in it.

Amjad Pervez Advocate said that the fourth inquiry was started in the case of Saaf Pani Company against Shahbaz Sharif. When Shehbaz Sharif appeared in the inquiry of Saaf Pani Company on October 5, 2018, he was arrested in Ashiana Iqbal reference. It has been filed but Shehbaz Sharif is not the accused in it. Whenever NAB summoned Shahbaz Sharif, he kept appearing.

Amjad Pervez Advocate further said that on January 12, 2018, a suspicious report of money transfer was received by FMU against Shehbaz Sharif, on which the court inquired from NAB as to what suspicious remittances were made.

Accountability to Continue No Matter How Many APCs Opposition Holds: Shehbaz Gill

Amjad Pervez Advocate said that the FMU report was not attached with the reference either. The NAB prosecutor said that it was a secret document and that is why it was not attached with the reference.

Advocate Amjad Pervez further argued that on October 5, 2018, NAB had arrested Shehbaz Sharif. When Ramzan Sugar Mills also started.

When it was difficult to get physical remand in Ashiana, the NAB filed a case against Ramzan Sugar Mills. When Shehbaz Sharif was arrested, there was talk of his assets. In Ramzan Sugar Mills, the accountability court did not remand him even for a day.

Courts have said they cannot remand separately in multiple cases. On February 14, 2019, Shehbaz Sharif was granted bail by the Supreme Court. When the NAB’s request for the removal of bail was rejected by the Supreme Court, the NAB chairman showed his strength and took Shehbaz Sharif’s work to the ECL. Shahbaz Sharif has come today for bail.

Non-bailable arrest warrants issued for Nawaz Sharif

Advocate Amjad Pervez said that the bail applications were rejected by the Supreme Court from December 3, 2019. Remarks of the judges against the NAB are printed in the newspapers of December 4, 2019, regarding this case.

The Supreme Court questioned the performance of the NAB. On December 3, 2019, the DG NAB issued an order to freeze the assets of Shehbaz Sharif on the charge of disproportionate assets.

Shehbaz Sharif has turned 70 years old today. Azam Nazir Tarar said that he is young if he was not a cancer patient.

Amjad Pervez Advocate said that the inquiry against Shehbaz Sharif started on October 23, 2018. The hearing on the bail application was adjourned till tomorrow.

Shehbaz Sharif’s lawyers will continue their arguments, the court granted Shehbaz Sharif one day in interim bail. 

Strict security arrangements have been made on the occasion of Shahbaz Sharif’s court appearance. A large number of PML-N workers have also reached the Lahore High Court to express solidarity with the Leader of the Opposition, National Assembly Mian Shehbaz Sharif.

NAB has asked the court to reject Shehbaz Sharif’s bail application. The NAB said in the court that it had received a complaint against Shehbaz Sharif from the SBP. Sharif had set up nine business units from 2008 to 2018.
