ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) After the approval of Prime Minister Imran Khan, Minister of State for Narcotics Shehryar Afridi has been removed from office.
The Cabinet Secretariat has issued a notification to de-notify Shahriar Afridi. It may be recalled that even earlier, the Prime Minister had withdrawn the portfolio from Shehryar Afridi. However, he was reinstated a few days later. The Prime Minister took action after the report on the flour and sugar crisis came to light in April this year.
Meanwhile, Senator Azam Swati, the Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, was given the portfolio of Narcotics Control in place of Shehryar Afridi. It may be recalled that Shehryar Afridi had earlier been the Minister of State for Home Affairs while he also held the post of Chairman of the Kashmir Committee.
Shehryar Afridi will continue his work as Chairman Kashmir Committee and his post is equivalent to that of a Federal Minister. The reason for Shahriar Afridi’s resignation as Minister of State is said to be the reduction in the number of ministers in the cabinet.
