In an interview with a private TV channel, Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed emerged from a period of relative silence to share his thoughts on recent events and the evolving political landscape. During the interview, Sheikh Rasheed revealed that his moment of seclusion offered him ample time for contemplation.

Addressing the tragic incidents of May 9, Sheikh Rasheed expressed his condemnation of the events the following day, underlining his commitment to peace and stability.

Sheikh Rasheed disclosed that he had, on two separate occasions, urged the PTI Chairman to involve the establishment in the negotiation process. However, his appeals were met with resistance, suggesting a divergence in their approaches to handling the political landscape.

Highlighting the delicate relationship between politicians and institutions, Sheikh Rasheed emphasized the need for a harmonious collaboration between the two. He stressed the importance of politicians refraining from mentioning military officers by name and underscored the pivotal role of institutions in ensuring the nation’s governance and stability.

Regarding a past controversy involving his Twitter account, Sheikh Rasheed clarified that he was shown tweets attributed to him, although he personally did not use Twitter. Despite the situation, no allegations against him held up except for those specific tweets.

Sheikh Rasheed also touched upon the General Asim Munir case, admitting that he believed a mistake had been made by entangling the issue.

Discussing the ever-evolving political dynamics, Sheikh Rasheed characterized the PTI Chairman as a steadfast politician. He noted that three individuals who had been negotiating with the military on behalf of the PTI had subsequently formed their own political party, hinting at shifting alliances within the political arena.

In a bold declaration, Sheikh Rasheed affirmed his unwavering support for the military, expressing his determination to continue in the political arena and contest elections, irrespective of the level of support he may receive, ultimately placing his fate in the hands of Allah.
