Sherry Rehman calls for Imran Khan to resign

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Climate Change and Vice President Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Sherry Rehman has suggested that Imran Khan should resign from party leadership after the foreign funding case verdict.

Whereas senior leader PPP and Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human resources and development has condemned the protest announced by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) outside the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

Sajid Hussain Turi said that Imran Khan wants to create chaos by putting the country’s institutions in a tough position. He said that Imran Khan lied for eight years and used pressure tactics to delay the verdict of the foreign funding case.

Turi was of the view that Imran Khan challenged the jurisdiction of the ECP and concealed 13 bank accounts from the institution. He added that Khan had indeed made an example of how to establish ‘Riyasat-e-Madina’ by concealing illegal foreign funding from the people of Pakistan.

Meanwhile, Federal Minister Sherry Rehman stated that Imran Khan should resign from the party leadership instead of protesting against the ECP’s decision. The minister said that he continued to take foreign prohibited funding in the name of charity and intended to get away with it, meanwhile a Prime Minister was disqualified for life by the court on the basis of misrepresentation.
