Shifting of 2 Bears from Islamabad Zoo to Balkasar Safe Shelter Case
ISLAMABAD, July 27 (Online Int’l): The matter of the relocation of two bears from Marghzar Zoo to sanctuaries has again reached the Islamabad High Court (IHC) as the Balkasar safe shelter administration has refused to keep these bears therein.
The court has sought a reply from Balkasar Wild Life Management till Wednesday. The court has issued directives that the Wildlife Board and MCI should take care of the health of the two bears. MCI, CDA and the Wildlife Board should take care of the bears till the next hearing.
The Chief Justice IHC took up for hearing the miscellaneous petition pertaining to non-relocation of two bears. The CJ IHC remarked that the court has given the decision and it has now to be implemented. The court inquired who is refusing to implement the court orders. The counsel told the court that Balkasar administration Bio Resource Centre Pakistan is refusing. The CJ IHC remarked that had you taken care of the animals then this situation would not have been created today.
The court while issuing a notice adjourned the hearing of the case till Wednesday. The court had ordered to shift the animals from Marghzar Zoo Islamabad last month.
