Show us where it is written in constitution special assistants cannot hold dual nationality: IHC
ISLAMABAD, July 30 (Online): Islamabad High Court (IHC) has reserved judgment on the maintainability of the petition seeking removal of Special Assistants to Prime Minister (SAPMs) from their offices.
The petition came up for hearing before a single bench of IHC presided over by the Chief Justice (CJ) Athar Minallah Thursday.
The petitioner told the court only five advisors can be appointed under article 93 of the constitution.
CJ IHC remarked article 93 relates to the advisors and not meant for special assistants. Show us where it is mentioned in the constitution that the special assistants cannot hold dual nationality.
The defense council Chaudhry Akram told the court such thing is not mentioned in the constitution. But this restriction is there in rules of business. In rule 15 such restriction is laid out.
CJ IHC remarked rule 15 has been expunged in 2010.
The court reserved the judgment after hearing the arguments of both sides.
