Sindh Bar Council secretary killed in Karachi

Dec 1, 2021: According to local news media reports, unidentified assailants shot dead Sindh Bar Council secretary lawyer Irfan Mehr in Gulistan-e-Jauhar area of ​​Karachi on Wednesday.

Mehr was on his way to drop off his children at school when unknown assailants on a motorcycle opened fire on his car. Mehr succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital. The Sindh Bar Council has expressed its condolences and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits.

According to police, the accused fired several shots at Mehr and fled. Lawyer Naeem Qureshi said Mehr, 45, was a resident of Gulistan-e-Jauhar and had returned to Block 13 in his car to drop off his daughter at school. But two suspects on a motorcycle hit him in the car. Police also found footage from a closed circuit television (CCTV) camera of a lawyer firing in Gulistan-e-Jauhar.

In the video, the accused can be seen wearing a helmet. One of them is seen firing on a vehicle.

The Karachi Bar Association has strongly condemned the incident and its general secretary Amir Nawaz Warraich has demanded that the killer of Mehr be arrested and punished.

The association will boycott the court proceedings today to protest.
