Sindh should be represented in federal energy institutions: Imtiaz Sheikh

"The Federal govt needs to sign a new agreement on gas distribution", said Sindh Energy Minister

Sindh Energy Minister Imtiaz Shaikh says that Sindh is being abused in the matter of gas and electricity.

Addressing a press conference in his office, Imtiaz Sheikh said that Sindh will not give up its right under any circumstances, we should be given our rightful share of gas.

He said that even half of the gas coming out of Sindh is not available to the people of Sindh due to which the people are feeling deprived.

Imtiaz Sheikh said that many complaints of gas shortage are being received, the problem of gas shortage has been going on for many years.

The Sindh Energy Minister further said that Sindh has the solution to the energy needs of the country but Sindh has been continuously neglected. He added, In Sindh, 2100 mmcfd of gas is produced, while 16 to 17 hundred mmcfd of gas is required; 700 to 800 mmcfd of gas is supplied.

Imtiaz Sheikh said that Sindh should be represented in federal energy institutions. We have applied for the representation of Sindh in Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), and other federal institutions. We hope that the Prime Minister of Pakistan will consider our requests and resolve the issues.

Sindh Energy Minister Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh demanded that we should be given our rightful share of our gas, Sindh government should also be represented in the K-Electric Board. If our demands regarding K-Electric are not accepted, we will raise this issue in the parliamentary forum as well.
