Nirmala Sitharaman, who previously served as defense minister, has been named the country’s new Finance Minister.
According to the reports of Baahitv, Nirmala Sitharaman has been named as the country’s new finance minister. Nirmala Sitharaman holds MA Economics and M.Ph. from JNU. Sitharaman will become the senior most woman minister in Modi’s cabinet as previous senior most woman minister Sushma Swaraj has excused herself from taking oath as External Affairs Minister due to ill-health.
Arun Jaitley, previous finance minister has excused himself from becoming finance minister due to poor health and has written a letter to PM Narendra Modi in this regard.
PM Narendra Modi also named S Jaishankar, a former foreign affairs secretary, as India’s new external affairs minister, who will take charge from Sushma Swaraj.
