Sony announces end to plastic packaging in smartphones
Smartphones and cameras weighing one kilogram or less will not have plastic packaging
Leading electronics company Sony has announced to phase out plastic packaging for smartphones and cameras from next year.
From April 2023, plastic packaging will not be used for certain new products weighing one kilogram (2.2 pounds) or less, Sony company spokesman said on Tuesday.
The Japanese company wants to eliminate plastic material from all of its newly designed small goods containers by 2025, the spokesperson said. He said that Sony eventually wants to eliminate plastic packaging for large products like televisions, but no specific time frame has been set for this yet.

Leading electronics giant Sony has announced a long-term global plan, targeting “zero environmental impact” in its products and business activities by 2050.
It should be noted that due to plastic packaging, pollution spreads worldwide, which also affects marine life.
