First Test Match: South Africa Fight Back Strongly Against India

KOLKATA: South Africa scored 385-8 at stumps on day 3 of the first Test against India on Friday, still trailing by 117 runs.

According to details, Proteas resumed day 3 in some trouble on 39-3. Left handed batsman Dean Elgar scored 160 off 287 balls, while Quinton de Kock attacked India’s bowlers to make 111 off just  163 balls. Both players put on 164 runs for the sixth wicket partnership, which helps South Africa to ease past the follow-on mark.

Indian Spinner Ravichandran Ashwin took five important wickets. At stumps of day 3, South African batsmen Senuran Muthusamy (12 not out) and Keshav Maharaj (3 not out) were in the middle.

Reportedly, India declared first inning on 502 runs.
