South Asian Esports Teams Battle For $150,000 in The PUBG MOBILE Pro League

Karachi, 29th September, 2021 – From September 21st to October 17th, 20 South Asian Esports teams will be coming together and going head-to-head in the PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Mobile (PUBG MOBILE) Pro League South Asia tournament (abbreviated as PMPL South Asia).

Talha Talib, along with some of Pakistan’s and Nepal’s most popular gaming influencers and top esports players, will be playing in a show match and acting as Tournament Ambassadors, encouraging both participants and spectators to break their limits, go for the gold and never stop trying to be the champion of their own life. All while making sure to have fun and make friends along the way.

“PUBG MOBILE esports teams set a great example for not only digital athletes, but for all athletes,” says Talha Talib, Pakistani Olympic weightlifter who finished in fifth place at the 2020 games in Tokyo. “The dedication and team spirit they show in PUBG MOBILE reminds me of my fellow Olympians. There is a lot of behind the scenes work and effort put forward by esports players that most fans and spectators never hear about.”

With the long delayed 2020 Summer Olympics firmly behind us many Olympic fans are yearning to once again experience the spirit and passion that the games are known for. This season’s PMPL South Asia aims to deliver the excitement and intensity of the Olympic Games that spectators are waiting for. This year, 20 teams from Pakistan, Nepal, and Mongolia will be competing together. The teams consist of qualified teams from the previous season, and new teams that won their slots in the National Championship and Club Open. Well known teams such as DRS Gaming, the Champion team of PMPL South Asia Season 3 from Nepal, and i8 Esports, the Champion team of PUBG MOBILE Club Open Pakistan Fall Split 2021 from Pakistan, will be meeting on the battlefield in the official competition.

The top 16 teams will be moving on to the finals, and the bottom four will be eliminated. The top six teams will also qualify for the PMPL MENA and South Asia Championship, scheduled for November 2021. After fierce battles in different regions, The PUBG MOBILE Global Championship 2021 (PMGC) will be the final global event in the PUBG MOBILE Esports calendar starting with the PMGC League stage on the 23rd November, with representative teams from the Middle East and Africa regions to be decided during the regional Championship.

The 2021 PUBG MOBILE esports program boasts a total prize pool of $14 million USD, the largest in mobile esports history, of which PMPL SA will offer $150,000. With this much money up for grabs, competition is bound to be fierce, with many teams practising day and night to perfect their skills and bring pride to their national fans.

Much like the Olympic Games, PMPL SA brings top PUBG MOBILE players from different countries in South Asia together to battle for the number one spot. All matches will be streamed live on YouTube, Facebook, on each match day from 18:00-22:00 (GMT+5:30).
