According to the BBC (British Broadcast Corporation), Young demanded that Spotify remove his music due to a spread of vaccine misinformation by Joe Rogan. In an open letter to his management and record label, Young demanded that Spotify can have either him or Rogan. It is pertinent to note, that Rogan has been criticized for broadcasting skeptical views concerning inoculation against Covid-19. He has also been accused of advocating ‘debunking claims’ pertaining to Covid-19.

The Canadian-American singer had written, “I want you to let Spotify know immediately TODAY that I want all my music off their platform”. He had elaborated that he feels Spotify is “potentially causing death” to people who believe in the vaccination disinformation. According to  Young’s letter, Spotify has a “responsibility to mitigate the spread”. According to the BBC, Young is not the first to have raised the concern that Spotify implements a check and balance against Covid-19 misinformation. Reportedly, healthcare professionals including doctors and scientists have also signed an open letter for Spotify to execute a policy to deal with misinformation.
