Lebanese football star Mohammad Ahmad Atwi was accidentally shot in the head on Friday after festive gunfire from a funeral for one of the victims of the Beirut explosion.
According to the Arab News Agency, footballer Mohammad Ahmad Atwi was attending the funeral prayers of a firefighter killed in the Beirut bombings when a bullet hit him in the head, seriously injuring him.
Arab media reported that several people were injured in the firing during the funeral and were rushed to a nearby hospital for immediate medical attention.
According to Arab media, the shooting incident is not terrorism but aerial firing during other major celebrations including weddings and funerals is the culture of Lebanon. Due to which large scale firing took place at the funeral and many people were shot indiscriminately.
According to Arab media, 27-year-old star footballer Atwi was taken to the hospital in a critical condition where doctors operated immediately and shot him, but his condition is critical due to internal bleeding.
According to Arab media, doctors say that Mohammad Ahmad Atwi has been transferred to ICU after a five-hour operation where his condition is better than before.
