LOUISIANA: People trying to lose weight are usually told by experts to avoid foods rich in carbohydrates, but now scientists believe that starchy potatoes can help with weight loss.
Scientists say people eat as much food as they need to fill their stomachs, without thinking about how many calories they got in that food.
According to the researchers, people who added potatoes to their meals, which are rich in carbohydrates and heavy, filled their stomachs faster, so doing so prevented them from eating more calories.
Potatoes have about 80 calories per 100 grams. This amount is more than double the calories found in vegetables such as carrots or broccoli.
In this case, the researchers also pointed out that the method of cooking potatoes is also very important and potato chips and crisps should be avoided as frying reduces its nutritional value.
