Islamabad, 21st May: According to the report of Baaghi TV, the inquiry commission has submitted a forensic report of the sugar crisis to Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Wajid Zia presented the report to the Prime Minister which is 200 pages long and includes statements from sugar mill owners.

The forensic report was submitted to the Prime Minister after which Prime Minister Imran Khan will take action against the sugar thieves. In this regard, important arrests are expected before Eid.

The Cabinet will also be given a detailed briefing on the investigation report on the sugar crisis. The FIA had completed a forensic audit of the Chinese scandal.

Federal Cabinet meeting will be held today to present a report on sugar scandal

Two days ago, while answering questions from journalists in Islamabad, Information Minister Shibli Faraz had clarified that the report of the commission on the sugar crisis would come before Eid and the final report will also be shared with the media.

It was informed in the meeting of the Federal Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday, April 28 that the Commission of Inquiry had asked for a three-week respite for the forensic audit. The week was rescheduled.

A joint investigation team headed by DG NAB Rawalpindi was formed to probe the inquiry report issued by the FIA. Director General NAB Rawalpindi Irfan Mangi was assigned to lead the team which investigated the prime mega scandal of flour and sugar. Officials from other agencies were also included in the joint investigation team.

A Federal Minister under NAB’s Radar

The joint investigation team will begin its investigation after the final report of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) is released. Earlier, NAB chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal had on April 21 approved a formal inquiry into the flour and sugar crisis. Action is also likely to be taken by the NAB after the final report of the FIA comes to light.

It is to be noted that the inquiry committee set up on the directive of Prime Minister Imran Khan on the sugar crisis has revealed in its report that the six groups have taken the form of mafia and it is affecting the prices of sugar.

According to the report of the committee, the six groups have a 51% share of the total sugar production and they can influence the market by joining hands. The control of a few over sugar production, and most of them with a political background, shows how they can influence policy and administration.
