The court also ordered to keep the name of the PPP leader in the Exit Control List (ECL) at the request of the NAB. The court said that if Khurshid Shah had to go abroad, he could approach the accountability court.
The court remarked that even after 2 years of arrest, NAB could not prove the allegations. Is NAB the only evidence that Khurshid Shah went abroad forty times?
Supreme Court Judge Omar Ata Bandial said that NAB should investigate but Khursheed Shah should not be kept in jail permanently. The reference was made on the transactions of 2005. At that time Khursheed Shah was not a public office holder.
It may be recalled that the National Accountability Bureau had arrested the PPP leader on September 18, 2019 in a case of disproportionate assets. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Mian Shahbaz Sharif congratulated Khurshid Shah on the approval of bail.
