The Supreme Court has received a report detailing the beneficiaries of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) amendments implemented this year. As per the NAB report, 12 cases have been transferred from NAB courts up until August 30, 2023.

Prominent figures such as former President Asif Ali Zardari and former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi are among those who have benefited from the NAB amendments. Notable cases that were transferred include those of Khursheed Anwar Jamali, Manzoor Qadir Kaka, Khawaja Anwar Majeed, and Hussain Lawai, the primary suspect in the fake accounts case, which are now beyond the NAB’s jurisdiction.

Furthermore, the accountability court returned the Park Lane reference against Asif Ali Zardari and the NAB case against Abdul Ghani Majeed of the Omni Group. The NAB report indicates that a total of 22 cases have been returned from accountability courts this year.

The report also states, “In accordance with the NAB amendments, 25 cases have been transferred to other forums.”
