WASHINGTON: In a pre-poll conducted by Emerson College ahead of the 2024 presidential elections in the US, the results of the survey were surprising as Donald Trump turned out to be ahead of his two rivals Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders.

The poll found that 46 percent people said that they’d vote the former president, Donald Trump, meanwhile 43 percent said that they’d vote for President Joe Biden, making the former president 3 percentage points ahead of the current president. In a hypothetical match-up against another prospective candidate, Bernie Sanders, Trump is leading 45 percent to 40 percent.

It is not certain as to whether or not Donald Trump will run for the president in 2024, but he is said to make an announcement regarding his decision this year.

Biden, meanwhile, has said he plans to run for a second term in the White House, yet recent polls shows that most Democrats don’t want him to be the presidential candidate of their party again.

Bernie Sanders is also seen as a potential 2024 contender, although he has said he will not challenge Biden if the president decides to run for a second term.

One of the major impediments for Joe Biden is the fact that most Americans don’t seem content with his performance. The Emerson College poll released found that only 40 percent of his voters were happy with his job performance, while 53 percent weren’t satisfied.
