System to Provide Flour at Reasonable to Common Man Ready

Lahore: System to provide cheap flour to common man is ready. Imran Khan cares about the poor.

On the direction of Prime Minister Imran Khan, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Senior Minister for Wheat and Flour Prices, Abdul Aleem Khan. The meeting was attended by Industries Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal and other officials including Chief Secretary Punjab. Secretary Food gave detailed briefing on flour situation and prices.

It was decided at the meeting that the supply of cheap flour by the government would now be restricted to the poor only. The Ehsas program data or utility stores would be used to supply government flour to the poor.

Senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan, while issuing orders to the Food Department to prepare recommendations, said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has removed all barriers to the import of wheat. It is not permissible to subsidize.

It may be mentioned that Pakistan Flour Mills Association Punjab Zone has increased the price of 20 kg bag of flour by Rs.50 more, after which the price of 20 kg bag of flour has gone up to Rs.975. After the increase in flour prices by flour mills, Lahore Flour Mill Owners Association also announced an increase in the price of flour by Rs.3 per kg.

Chairman Pakistan Flour Mills Association Punjab Zone Abdul Rauf Mukhtar said that the increase in the price of flour was due to poor policies of the Punjab Food Department due to which it is not available. Wheat in the open market has crossed Rs.1800 per quintal. In such cases, flour mills cannot buy expensive wheat and sell flour at cheap prices.
