Pakistan announces squad for T20 match to be played in Bangladesh tomorrow

Nov 11, 2021: Pakistan has the backing of former cricket legends Brian Lara and Mike Atherton, who have predicted that Men in Green will win the semi-final match against Australia tonight.

Undefeated Pakistan will take on the Kangaroos in the semi-finals of the second T20 World Cup at the Dubai International Stadium today. Whoever wins will play New Zealand on Sunday for the T20 World Cup title.

Cricket pundits believe that the team led by Babar Azam is in excellent form so it is likely to reach the final of the ICC tournament. Former West Indies great Brian Lara has predicted in a social media message that the Green Shirts will win today’s match.

He said that Australia is a very dangerous team, it has a strong line-up that can beat anyone but Pakistan has the ability to bowl and bat to make it to the final.

Meanwhile, former England captain Mike Atherton, while supporting the Pakistani team, said that they have got the best and diverse bowling attack in this competition. “I am going with Pakistan.”

While Pakistan may boast its unbeaten record in 16 consecutive matches on UAE soil as the Green Shirts have not lost even a single T20 here since 2016. But, this time around, it is a knockout match of the ICC World Cup.

Another thing to keep in mind is the fact that Pakistan do not have an enviable record against the Kangaroos in the ICC event’s knock-out contests.

Both Pakistan and Australia have clashed four times before in knockout matches of ICC events in any format. And, it was Australia that defeated Pakistan in the semi-finals of the 1987 World Cup, the World Cup final of 1999, the semi-finals of the 2010 T20 World Cup and the quarter-finals of the 2015 World Cup.

Both teams have clashed 17 times in ICC events. Out of these, Australia has won 10 times and Pakistan has won seven times. Six of those matches were for the T20 World Cup and both teams won three times. Both Pakistan and Australia played a total of 23 T20 matches out of which Pakistan won 13 and Australia 9 others. Eight of these matches were played on UAE soil. Out of these, Pakistan has won six matches.
