Talks underway between government and TLP chief Saad Rizvi: Sheikh Rasheed
Sheikh Rasheed reveals that some decisions were made regarding the current situation during the National Security Committee meeting chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
According to reports, the meeting of National Security Committee held discussions regarding the march of the banned party. Strategies on other issues of national security were also discussed. The meeting was attended by DG IB and Finance Advisor Shaukat Tareen. Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and DGMO were also part of the National Security Committee meeting. Information Minister, Defense Minister Pervez Khattak were also present in the National Security Committee meeting. Moreover, Naval Chief Amjad Khan Niazi, Air Chief Zaheer Ahmed Babar and Interior Minister DG ISI Faiz Hameed also attended the meeting.

After the meeting, Federal Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed informed that the meeting of the National Security Committee lasted for 2 hours. The current situation was discussed in detail in the meeting. Official announcement of the meeting of the National Security Committee will be issued in a while. Sheikh Rasheed further emphasized that the doors for negotiations have not been closed yet, the writ of the state has to be maintained. I want the issues to be resolved amicably. Minister for Religious Affairs Noor-ul-Haq Qadri and I are holding talks with the banned party. I will talk to the media if need be. It must be maintained that the writ has to be established, the lives and property of the people have to be protected.
Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed said that the police in Punjab is subordinated to the Rangers. The banned party has closed off the GT road which is causing problems for the people. The police were fired upon by the protestors while the police personnel only have sticks. We are steadfast on our agreement and may hold negotiations in the evening. We told them to clear the GT Road but they did not agreed to it. We will hold talks today and all progress shall be relayed. WhatsApp is running from India, South Korea and Hong Kong. Talks are also being held with party leader Saad Rizvi. We should wait for the outcome of the talks and support mutual understanding. The world knows that the French ambassador is not in Pakistan. France is presiding over the European Union. The banned party has come out for the seventh time. PM Imran Khan will address the nation tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. He will present the current situation to the nation. Prime Minister Imran Khan’s address will be the statement of the entire government.
