Tehmina Janjua: ‘We Need to Talk to Afghanistan About Terrorism Issue’

Former Foreign Secretary of Pakistan,Tehmina Janjua, has stated that Islamabad should engage in constructive dialogue with Afghanistan’s interim government to address certain challenges and the threat of terrorism.

Janjua emphasized that Islamabad should not be in conflict with any of its neighbors.

Tehmina Janjua added: “We need to talk to Afghanistan about the terrorism issue in a mature manner… and we need to … somehow sit (at) the table. We can’t keep on having a confrontation relationship with all our neighbors.”

Experts say that the Islamic Emirate should strengthen its relations with all countries, especially its neighbors, more than ever before.

Sayed Qaribullah Sadat, a political analyst, told TOLOnews: “Any issues between Pakistan and Afghanistan, whether political, economic, or related to refugees, should be resolved through dialogue, understanding, and mutual acceptance.”

Sayed Zia Hussaini, another political analyst, said: “The more trust-building there is, the more trust exists, and the more communications expand, and if they see each other based on objective realities, I think it can be constructive.”

So far, the Islamic Emirate has not commented on these statements, but it has repeatedly emphasized in the past that the interim government seeks good relations with all countries, especially its neighbors.
