KARACHI: One of the prestigious institutions of the country,The City School, has slashed the salaries of its teachers and other staff by 15 to 50 percent on the pretext of financial constraints in the wake of financial losses due to Covid-19,with this the Provident Fund account has also been closed.
It is reported that the salaries of the staff are being paid after the 10th instead of the1st. According to sources, no official report has been issued on all these illegal activities. Teachers have been taking online classes from their homes for 4 months and the school is not providing any facility in this regard.
Despite fulfilling all their responsibilities, teachers are uncertain about when and how much they will be paid, because of this situation teachers are not properly focussing on teaching the students, instead they are worried about their pays.It should be noted that students are barred from attending classes by the school administration for non-payment or delay of only one month’s fees.
In this situation when the school’s administration should be flexible with the parents, instead of doing that they are putting pressure on them to pay fee.Although they are taking full fee from the students but the teachers are still not paid fully. They are only concerned with the money, nobody is concerned about the loss that students have been facing.
Affected staff, teachers, and parents have appealed to Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani to take disciplinary action against the school administration for adopting such unprofessional practices in the sacred field of education and training. In order to alleviate the suffering of school employees, teachers and parents in this hour of need.
