The Defending Champion puts up a classic show

Karachi, 23rd Feb, 2020: Today, in the sixth match of the fifth edition of PSL, the defending champion Quetta Gladiators defeated Karachi Kings by 5 wickets.

In the match played at the Karachi National Cricket Stadium, Karachi Kings played first and set a target of 157 runs to Quetta Gladiators.

Quetta Gladiators became victorious due to the aggressive batting of Azam Khan, scoring 46 runs with the help of 4 fours and 2 sixes, who played a pivotal role in the win of the defending champion.

Karachi Kings’ opener Babar Azam scored 26 and Sharjeel Khan 6 runs, giving a stand of 47 runs, after which Alex Hales and Cameron Delport made an effort to take the score forward but they too also got out on the scores of 29 and 22 respectively.

In the end, with the help of 25 runs scored by Iftikhar Ahmed, Karachi Kings was able to put up a total of 156 score.

The start of Quetta Gladiators did not go well too, as Shane Watson 27, Jason Roy 17 and Ahmed Shahzad scored 11 runs and went back to the pavilion at a total of 55, but after that Sarfraz Ahmed and Azam Khan played a responsible and match winning partnership before Azam Khan got unlucky and was run out at a score of 46, missing his second, half century in the League.

For his brilliant batting, Azam Khan was declared the Man of the Match.

The second scheduled match, between Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United will take place at the Gaddafi Stadium Lahore at 7 pm PST.
