This feud stems from events in October of the previous year when Canada voiced concerns that India might have been involved in the assassination of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Sikh separatist leader, on Canadian soil. India vehemently denied any involvement, and Canada extended an offer to the Indian government to collaborate on the investigation to uncover the truth behind this tragic incident. Regrettably, India’s government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, declined this offer. Despite the escalating tensions, Canada continues to provide consular services to Indian nationals within its borders.

Canada is home to a substantial Indian immigrant population, with approximately two million Indian citizens residing in the country. This demographic group’s future appears to be at stake amidst the ongoing diplomatic dispute.

If David’s observations hold true, Canada might have been better served by taking proactive measures before the Nijjar murder thrust the issue into the spotlight. There are no two opinions on the fact that eventually both will need to cooperate in order to not only resolve the issue of as to who murdered Nijjar, but also to move forward from this point. Given the circumstances, it seems prudent for both nations to expedite resolution efforts and avoid further complications. So why not cut the chase & get to the point and save everyone a lot of trouble.
