The events in the Qur’an are a reminder for the believers: Allama Haqqani & Allama Mousavi

Lahore: During the Ramadan transmission today, Allama Abdul Shakur Haqqani and Allama Syed Hasnain Mousavi narrated the important events of the 12th para. At the beginning of this para, Allama Abdul Shakoor Haqqani, referring to the responsibility of Allah Almighty for His creatures, said that in the beginning, while solving the problem of the economy of all creatures, He declared that Allah Almighty should take care of the livelihood of all living beings on earth.
In this passage, Allah Almighty mentions these nations. Those who become the object of God’s wrath because of their disobedience. Noah (AS)’s people worshiped idols. The Prophet Noah (AS) exhorted his people to refrain from polytheism, but they ridiculed Noah (AS). Allah helped Noah (AS) by releasing water in the form of rain and flood from the heaven and earth. All the unbelievers, including Noah (AS)’s son and disobedient wife, were affected.
After this, Allah Almighty mentioned the people of Aad that the people of Aad, like the people of Noah, were suffering from the disease of polytheism. Hud kept inviting them to the Oneness of Allah, but they did not listen to Hud. The people of Aad were proud of their power. Allah Almighty imposed on them a mighty storm wind which He uprooted the people of Hud and those who were proud of their power were lying on the ground like the branches of a cut tree. After the people of Aad, Allah mentioned the people of Thamud.
Allama Haqqani said that Hazrat Shoaib (AS) was sent to Madinah as a prophet. He also gave the message of Tawheed. I fear that a day will come upon you when the torment will befall them all. The people said, “O Shoaib, we do not understand many of your words. We see that you are a weak man.” The torment of Allah descended upon these people, and they lay prostrate in their homes, as if they had never dwelt in them. Then there is the story of Prophet Musa (AS), which has come in different ways in the previous paras as well. At the end of this surah, Allah Almighty also instructed the wisdom of narrating these stories, saying, “We strengthen your heart with these stories of the Prophets which we narrate to you. Faith has admonition and awareness.”
When Surah Hud was completed, Surah Yusuf began. In this Surah, the instructive story of Prophet Yusuf (AS) is narrated in great detail. At the beginning of the surah, he said, “These are the verses of the Book of Revelation. We have sent down the Qur’an in Arabic so that you may understand, and we narrate an excellent story through this Qur’an. Before that you were completely unaware of this incident.” Then the story begins that Hazrat Yusuf (AS) said to his father Hazrat Yaqub (AS): O my father, I have dreamed that there are eleven stars and the sun and the moon are all prostrating before me.” His father said, “Do not tell this dream to your brothers, otherwise they will conspire against you.”
The brothers said to each other, “Yusuf (AS) and his brother are dearer to our father than we are as a whole group. The fact is, our father has gone astray, let’s kill Yusuf (AS) or throw him in a (remote) place, so the father’s attention will be on us, then we will be good again. One of them said, “Do not kill Yusuf, but throw him into a well. Perhaps a caravan will pick him up.” (According to an interpretation, one day, they all came to the service of their father) and asked, “Father, why don’t you trust us with regard to Yusuf, when we are well-wishers of him? You should send him with us. We will go around, we will play, we will protect him. Hazrat Yaqub (AS) said, “I find it difficult for him to go with you, and I am afraid that the wolf will eat him because of your negligence.”
“If the wolf ate him while you were there, then we are at a loss,” he said. So they took Yusuf (AS) and agreed to throw him into a well. We revealed to Yusuf (Joseph) by revelation: “The time will come when you will inform your brethren of this.” At night they came to their father weeping and beating themselves and said, “Father, we were running together, when we left Yusuf with our belongings he was eaten by a wolf.”
They also brought false blood on Yusuf (AS)’s shirt. The father said, “You have fabricated something from your heart, so I will be patient.” A caravan came to the place where they left Hazrat Yusuf (AS), they sent their Saqqa to fetch water, the Saqqa put a bucket in the well and shouted, “Congratulations, there is a slave here.” They hid them like goods and sold them for a few dirhams. The man who bought them to Egypt and said to his wife, “Keep him well, he may be of use to us or we may adopt him.” When Hazrat Yusuf (AS) reached puberty, We gave him wisdom and knowledge. The woman in Yusuf (AS)’s house began to seduce him.
One day she closed the door and said, “Come.” Yusuf said, “God forbid!” My master gave me a good place”, and they both ran back and forth to the door and the woman tore his shirt from behind, they both found the woman’s husband present at the door. Seeing this, the woman said, “What is the punishment for a man who harms your wife?” One of the woman’s family testified that if the shirt is torn from the front then the woman is true and Yusuf is a liar and if the karta is torn from the back then the woman is a liar. It was found the woman was lying. The husband said that these are the tricks of women, but this woman did not leave him Yusuf (AS) be and sent him to jail. Two other slaves also entered the prison with Yusuf.
When they had a dream, they asked Hazrat Yusuf (AS) for its interpretation and it turned out to be true. Hazrat Yusuf (AS) had said to one of them, “Mention me to your master” but he forgot. Then the king of Egypt had a dream and found out the interpretation from the courtiers, the slave was there, he went to the prison and found out the interpretation from Yusuf (AS).
The king of Egypt found out that this interpretation had been uttered by a man who was imprisoned. Hazrat Yusuf (AS) was called, he said to the one who came, first tell your master, to ask the women who cut off their hands. The king inquired of the women, and they all confessed their wrongdoing. Thus, Yusuf (AS) came out of the prison and became the treasurer, and after a short time he inherited the throne of Egypt.
Allama Syed Hasnain Mousavi, while describing the important incident of 12 para, said that this para has two parts:
- Complete Surah Hud (Its first five chapters are in the eleventh verse)
- The first part of Surah Yusuf
In Surah Hud, there are four things:
- The greatness of the Holy Qur’an
- Tawheed and the arguments of Tawheed
- The events of the seven Prophets (peace be upon them) for the Prophethood and its confirmation
- Mention of the Hour
The greatness of the Qur’an:
- The Qur’an is a solid book in terms of its verses, meanings and subjects and it cannot be disturbed in any way and there is no contradiction in it. The main reason for its firmness is that it has been described and interpreted by the one who is both wise and knowledgeable. He is well aware of his psychology, weaknesses and needs.
- The disbelievers of the Qur’an have been challenged that, if the Qur’an is really a human endeavor, then you should also bring ten Surahs like it.
Tawheed / Monotheism and the arguments for monotheism:
- Allah is the Sustainer of all creatures. Whether it is human beings or giants, animals or birds, fish living in the water or insects crawling on the earth, Allah has created the heavens and the earth.
The events of the seven Prophets (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon them) for the Prophethood and its confirmation:
Hazrat Noah (AS). His people did not believe except a few, so he built the ark by the command of Allah, and the believers were saved while, the rest were drowned.
Hazrat Hud (AS). Those of his people who believed were successful, but the punishment of Allah came upon all others.
Hazrat Saleh (AS). At the command of his people, Allah brought out a camel from the mountain, but the people killed him, and Allah’s punishment fell on them.
Hazrat Ibrahim (AS). The wife of Abraham (AS) was given a son in old age by Ishaac (AS) and then his son Yaqub (AS).
Hazrat Lot (AS). The people of his tribe were wicked, they were attracted to boys instead of women, some angels came to Lot in the form of handsome young men, the wicked people from his people also reached there, Lot told them that they should marry the girls, but they did not agree. The punishment of Allah came upon them.
Hazrat Shoaib (AS). The people of his people used to lose weight. Those who obeyed the Prophet survived, and the disobedient were punished by screaming.
Hazrat Musa (AS). The Pharaoh disobeyed him, but Allah thwarted him and those who believed with him.

In these events, on the one hand, there are endless lessons and advices for the people of intellect, understanding, hearing and sight, and on the other hand, there is a source of comfort and steadfastness for the Holy Prophet (SAW) and sincere believers. That is why while narrating these incidents, you have been commanded to persevere, which, in fact, is the prerogative of the entire Ummah. Perseverance is not an easy thing, but a very difficult attribute that only certain servants of Allah acquire. Perseverance means living one’s life according to the teachings that God has commanded.
