Legendary Bollywood actor Dilip Kumar’s ‘Mughal-e-Azam’ has ruled the Indian film industry for 48 years.
Recently departed legendary actor Dilip Kumar has done more than 65 films in his eventful career but the film that shot him to overnight stardom was ‘Mughal-e-Azam’, released in 1960. He acted in the lead role of the movie, that of Prince Saleem.
Dilip Kumar’s film was not only popular in the year of its release, but also kept earning a good amount from 1960 to 2008, after which it became the first Bollywood film to rule over the Indian film industry for 48 years.
Apart from the film ‘Mughal-e-Azam’, Dilip Kumar also gave Bollywood several other super hits such as Milan, Jugnu, Shaheed, Nadiya ke Paar, Jogan, Babul, Aarzoo, Tarana, Hulchul, Deedar, Sangdil, Daag, Aan, Shikast, Footpath, Amar, Uran Kathola, Insaniyat, Devdas, Naya Daur, Paigham, Kohinoor, Ganga Jamuna, and Shakti.
In view of his services, he was awarded several awards by the Government of India, including the Padma Bhushan Award and the Dadasaheb Phalke. In 1998 he was also awarded Pakistan’s highest civilian award, the Nishan-e-Pakistan.
