The iconic Eid Gah Gujrat stands tall with its undying charm and glory still. The magnificence of the structure leaves the viewer in awe, who gazes with wonderment. Built in the early 30’s. The sight aesthetically is so wholesome that it leaves a man to wonder how much detail must have gone into the real creation of this replica of the Badshahi mosque when built once upon a time.

This is a reminder of the chivalry, magnanimity, the kindness and generosity of those who were known to be the real caretakers of the city once. Nevertheless, it basks in its glory with every passing day. The structure is so overpowering it catches the eye of the onlooker and once a celebrity of those times had to stop and look at it. It was none other than the Rana Liaqat Ali, Mian Barkat Allah the father of late Mian Akbar was hurriedly called upon, who was the custodian then and a noble man, he informed Rana about the mosque and it’s housing capacity. Rana Liaqat was so enthralled and captivated that he instantly announced a donation for a loudspeaker there and then.

The builders must have done an amazing job back then. Thanks to the resilient artisans, and the sons of the soil who left no stone unturned building it. It’s a center where people congregate for their prayers. But the grandest of all the affairs happens to be the moment two Eids that come every year, this is the time when countless natives throng the place, a sight which is hard not to notice.

The administrative control has handed down now to the scions of Mian Akbar and thakedar Rashid family along with some other nobler kinds. They are doing everything possible to restore its glory. The campaign is afoot.

Many new and old settlers of the city have taken upon themselves to re-infuse a cash flow in order to bolster activity that may help, repair, restore and possibly bring it back to its final form.

Thanks to Mian Imran who organized the visiting Portuguese ambassador to visit the site. He was flabbergasted to note that the massive structure is on a pre-UNESCO list. We are indebted to the worthy ambassador for taking the time out and taking things into account. For once we need all hands on the deck, for its restoration, that’s what he desired.

An organized campaign in this regard therefore, is the need of the hour to address this long awaited issue. Insha’Allah this all can be managed well by the participation of our new vibrant generations.

The building was built in 1935 with the help of so many. Its grandeur then knew no bounds. The maintenance was carried out by the locals ever since its inception. The majestic structure is now in a dilapidated state which requires immediate attention. Inside the domes the cracks and cleavages are beginning to appear. The building and the maestoso construction has weathered a storm but now needs immediate care. All foreign and national help is needed urgently for its revamping and restoration.
